Introductions
This is a book about reflections. It seeks to explore notions from two perspectives —visual art and free verse poetry. To put it another way, the book tries to show that art and poetry—holding forth as visceral vessels for discussion—offer different meanings that lead to different suppositions. The artist explores a notion in a much different way than the poet. Both approaches may illuminate the same idea but offer much different perspectives.
Hidden within this two-pronged approach lies another issue of even greater importance. The reader’s perception taken from two distinct perspectives which may lead to an envisioning of a third approach. So, whereas the book may offer two perspectives, the reader can add a third, thereby expanding potential understanding and significance. Solid ideas emerge from such growth. The best ideas are those that become true for the many who can believe in them and stand by them. Ideas development creates progress in life for all humans. Making a contribution to the progressive development of ideas is a major accomplishment, whether artist, poet, or reader.
The authors have tried to keep in mind the reader as the one who will expand idea usage, applying the process to different arenas of human life. The reader will find new relevance, innovative interpretations, and fresh expressions experiencing the sensations explored here. Or they may create new notions that are useful, meaningful, and enduring. We hope that is the case.
One can look back and see that historical events and even routine days have been translated into both visual arts and poetry. These translations constitute the type of new notions we envision. In most instances, history and routine days have faded beyond memory unless rekindled by the lively breathes of art and poetry.

The Secret Paw Society: A series of children's books based upon the family pets and their interaction with Ann's children as they all work together to solve mysteries. These books are creatively tantalizing and entertaining. Written and Illustrated by Ann Brennan Tomlins
The sun is shining in Half Moon Bay, California. A few clouds, like soft pillows, float through the sky. Life is good here. There is a lovely cat door and all can go outside to loll about in the sun. The garden is buzzing with insect life. Over the garden wall is a broad beach and the ocean. The sound of the waves is a constant murmur, like a good sustained purr.
-a story as told by Miss Pretty, a tuxedo-cat and a charter member of the Secret Paw Society...
New York City, the home of many museums, where the Secret Paw Society has been working as "mousers" in one of them.It seems that someone or something has been unraveling the unicorn tapestries in the Cloisters Museum.
Tapestries are woven images made from colored wool, and the older ones are vulnerable to pests. We have been hired to search out the possibilities of after hours"bad actors" in the museum. I am too old to give chase. My name is Olivia...a tortoise shell. I am called "Olivia the Elder," a charter member of the Secret Paw Society...
The third book in the series is staged in New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, a place that is special to The Secret Paw Society and our family of humans. It is a place of big skies, where you can see a storm approaching from afar, moving out of the mountains, over the Mesa, oft tossing sage and scattering jack rabbits. It is a place where history burgeons and tells its story in the most curious of ways. My name is Luigi. I am known as "WeeGee," a black Bombay, a charter member of the Secret Paw Society...
